Trying FT8 on the 9cm microwave band

3 September, 2019 - Reading time: ~1 minute

Who said microwaves were only line of sight!! After the success of our 2.4 GHz ham radio contact, VK7ZBX and I decided to try and test a FT8 contact using our 3.4 GHz systems. The main purpose was to test the frequency drift using digital modes. The transverter is a modified GARC panel with an internal 10 MHz TCXO that can drift with temperature changes. Note I'm in my shed out of the rain, behind a fence, and several houses!
